About Us
What does 'great coffee' mean to you?
For us at Boondocks Coffee, great coffee means three things: care, quality, and sustainability for our farmers. We craft specialty, organic, small batch roasted coffee for people who enjoy taking a moment with a cup. We source coffee directly from producers and coffee importers with an overall focus on farmer development, rural livelihood, and sustainability.
Care for the environment
We firmly believe that climate change is an existential threat to humanity. We don't want to be a part of the problem, we want to do our bit to solve it. So, we are proud to introduce our 100% compostable packaging. Every single component of the Boondocks coffee package you receive can become soil
Our shipments are carbon neutral through Shopify Planet. Planet automatically calculates your shipping emissions, and ensures high-quality carbon removal to neutralize your shipping footprint. Every time an order is processed and shipped, a small contribution is made to purchase carbon removal credits from companies that are a part of the Shopify Sustainability Fund, creating technologies and solutions that pull carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere and store it long term.
Quality of our Products
Our beans are roasted in a way that highlights the specific coffee batch’s attributes. We chase sweetness, complexity, and distinctiveness. We have much greater control over the bean’s final flavor with a consistent result.
We focus on the nuanced flavor profiles of single origin coffee. We also do blends (Galleon Blend), but our attention is firmly placed on the myriad of experiences available through single origin coffee.
Our seasonal, rotating roster of specialty singles are either hard to come by, showcase unusual processing methods or are sourced from small lot producers. Carefully and thoughtfully sourced, once they land in our hands from many a far-flung place, each individual green bean is roasted with care and precision. The result is a range of fruit-forward, tea-like, lighter roast profiles that brim with flavor and textural nuance.
Sustainability for our Farmers
We believe understanding where the coffee comes from at the farm really tells a story of how it tastes in the cup. We don't mind investing more to receive the exceptional quality and thoughtful care for our coffee beans. Our coffees are seasonal and many of the flavors offered are limited run until they sell out.
We understand that the quality of Boondocks can only match the excellence of the raw coffees used to produce it - a burden carried by farmers who use safe and sustainable agricultural practices to cultivate exceptional coffees. Our coffee producers are supported through partnerships with reputable green coffee suppliers who share our commitment to ethical labor practices. We firmly believe that our coffee tastes better without the taint of oppression.
We roast and package all of our coffee in Los Angeles, California.
